Peter van Toorn Brix

Born on November 6, 1967

Peter graduated from the Danish School of Design in 1995 after having taken a higher education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. The simplicity of Danish design combined with the Dutch tradition of public, debating design is constantly present in Peter’s approach to design.

Peter started his career with a short interlude at Eleven Danes after which he proceeded to Kontrapunkt in 1996. From 2000 to 2005 he was chief designer at Kontrapunkt. Following a year at Scandinavian Design Lab, Peter was one of the associates to launch LOOP Associates in 2007 – where he remains a partner and creative director. There, he designs and is creatively responsible for the development of major identities and branding systems, exhibitions, packaging designs, publications, and web design.

Peter's numerous accolades include: The Danish Design Award in 2001, 2002 and 2007; First Prize from the Trophèes d’Or/Adfa Monotype in 2001 for the typography for Billund Airport; and in 2008, a Silver Medal for the design of the Danish Expo pavilion in Zaragoza. Naturally, Peter is highly sought after as a jury member at high-profile design competitions, and also acts as a visiting teacher and lecturer.

Peter has carried out design assignments for a large number of private and public clients, including but not exclusive to: Danske Bank, Billund Airport, Novo Nordisk, Egmont, Axcel, DSB (The Danish Railways), Semler, Apotek, Madeleines, Nestlé, SKAT, Coca-Cola, Expo 2008 and Coloplast. Most recently, he has developed an overarching design identity for Fritz Hansen, where he is active as a design consultant.
